Donna’s Belgian Waffles

Donna’s Belgian Waffles

Couple years ago,at the end of our sunday school year,we were planning a fellowship to discuss next year SS calendar events.Though not all of us knew what will take place in next calendar year precisely, everyone was unanimous that fellowship should take place at Donna’s house over her Belgian waffles.Friends who had tasted her waffles before did great job convincing us, who had not ,that if you miss it,you will regret it for the rest of your life.So yes, some of us made sure to go to the planning meet, more so to eat waffles then talk about next year’s  SS calendar. And yes, every bite of it was delicious, light and fluffy, just as we have been told by our friends. I was thrilled to know that Donna has lots of loving memories of making this classic American breakfast, waffles, for her family and would love to share it with us as one of our mother’s day special. This is how it all began,in her own words. Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits

Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits

Tonight was one of those night, where I choose to serve breakfast for dinner…or ‘Brenner’ as many people call it.My thought was to make scrambled eggs and regular biscuit with some hashbrowns. Then I started browsing FN and came across this cheddar biscuit.I had every ingredients,so I thought, lets change thing a bit and try it out. And,I am sooo glad that i tried. I felt it was little salty for my taste when I made it first time,so next time I reduced the amount of salt to 1 tsp and it was just right. I also divided...

Illusion of Biscuit

Illusion of Biscuit

Biscuit hmm….when I heard it first time,my picture of it couldn’t have been more different. In India, what we call Biscuit is cookies kinda stuff, not soft and chewy like you think of it here but hard and crispy sweet thing, which you eat as  snack with tea or coffee or just by itself. For the record, concept of cookies in India is non-existent.Traditional Indian homes do not have baking oven.So the baked goods are out of question.Though,I never felt the lack of  baked goodies, first I didn’t know any better and second, there are multiple variety of Indian desserts which are plenty to keep me satisfied.             So when my husband said ,Biscuit and gravy that he loves.I was totally astounded to associate Biscuit with something like ‘gravy’ as in what kind of gravy. How can you eat biscuit with gravy?I googled and then came to understand what he actually meant. It is a staple in Southern cooking and popular breakfast item.So my quest for Biscuit began.I am still not where I want to be  as in I...
