‘Crown of Thorn’ bread
“..The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe.” John 19:2
On Good Friday morning,we read the Story of Christ Crucifixion. We asked questions. Both of my kids were pretty curious. So now I wanted to create a visual for what we read. What would be better than making it not only visually appealing but edible too.
There is nothing ‘comfortable’ and ‘cozy’ about wearing the ‘crown of thorns’ and being mocked at.My thought was as we nibble on the pieces of bread,we are reminded of humility and suffering Christ went through for us,so we don’t have to.
Many family around here have a tradition of eating ‘Easter Bread’ as i came to know during blog hopping.I never tasted one and all I know about is from what I have read.So I decided to give a try to ‘easter bread’ and call it ‘Crown of Thorn‘ bread instead to tie it with the story we read.I have seen ‘dyed’ eggs being used in this bread,we kept it easy and simple and didn’t do the eggs.I followed the ‘Crown of Thorn’ bread recipe.
