Frosted Sugar Cookies
What has been the highlight of your day lately?
Yesterday, when i asked myself this question,my answer was playing with my three year old in his room for over an hour.Making cookies with him, later in the afternoon. This little boy of mine is talkative and keeps me fully entertained,if i allow myself to be entertained instead of being stingy about my “me” time. And i did 🙂
Buzzword of the season is “Busy” around here.I would have liked the buzzword to be ,desperate anticipation for Christ with the heart people may have felt who heard the prophesy some 2000 years ago.
So how do you conquer busy-ness?I try to manage it at best i can.My thought this Christmas have been,I don’t want to get so busy “doing” the Christmas that i forget “living” the Christmas.I told myself,if in this season of anticipation, my joyful heart is being eclipsed by scheduled traditions,i must stop continuing them until i get right with Word of God..So i have caught myself questioning the intent of my heart in the midst of uptight schedules, like putting one more wreath on my front door can wait or must i run laps to get it done.*I stopped.*
We settled on easy ideas for our family to be in God’s word on daily basis. One of them is doing advent reading. My 3 and 5 year old have looked forward to it this year and have been eager to open us up on prayer everyday. My daughter looks for the verse of the day from our advent tree afterward.I simply recycled my thanksgiving tree by spray painting the branches gold,
- added couple of tags with verses written.Tied up with purple ribbon
- and for little diversity, added white draw string pouches, printed verse inside, for those specific days, when we set out to serve others either by visiting ,handing cookies or sharing some time from our schedule with some lonely people.
I just tweaked it a bit, taking inspiration from JosephsGrainery and result was still the amazingly delicious.
