We are having winter around here.Temperature on Christmas day is suppose to be hovering in 20s,later in the night..thats cooooooold.I like cold weather.Well, let me give you more realistic idea of the way i like winter.
I like sitting up by the fire, cozied up with my loves, watching polar express as a family or watching English Period pieces when kids are in bed.Think Jane Austen. Downton Abbey kind.Sipping hot cocoa fluffed to the rim with marshmallows.
I imagine, some of you may like it too.So this year,i whipped up a batch of hot cocoa mix to share with my family and friends.A little Christmas gift.I had received it first time from my sweet friend Emily couple of year ago.I loved it.So she has been my inspiration behind this gift.I loved her recipe and i still have some from the last year i made.So this year i decided to try another mix with the help of pinterest course at catchingfireflies
- I made the batch as recipe called for and tested a cup using that.I felt it wasn’t sweet enough,so i added 1-1/4 cup additional powdered sugar. It is not still overly sweet like store bought but good for me and i hope for those who received it :-).I highly recommend adding marshmallows to it or some whipped cream,no not just for added sweetness but because thats the way you are suppose to have it 🙂
- Powder milk that i got was not fine,it had granules.I don’t like the aesthetic of the cocoa mix with granules,so i ground the milk powder until it is very fine.
- I also sieved the cocoa mix,it tend to have tiny granules too.
- Word of warning: You must buy your canning jars way before whole town is buying it.I had 1/2 pint jar,i had bought couple of months ago and ran out of it.So next batch i could only find 1 pint in some distant store.Mine was out of it.
