Peach Crisp
My hubby and I celebrated our anniversary recently. It was busy week day with school, work, game all in same 24 hrs, so we decided to postpone the date night but that doesn’t mean postponing yummy foods.I prepared both of ours favorite dishes of Indian and American flares. Chicken Tikka Masala by simmering grilled Chicken Tikka Kabab in blend of spices for depth of flavor along with Veggie Biriyani, finished with Peach Crisp, very American fruity dessert.Peach also happens to be my hubby’s favorite fruit in dessert.
Now a thing or two about peaches and me.I didn’t know about peaches until of course as you guessed, I came here.Texas is famous for its peaches.Warm climate here produces some of the tastiest and sweetest peaches.I tasted peaches for the first time, while having dinner at my mother-in-law’s dinner table, very first time.Lot of firsts ha !Yes I was introduced to peach cobbler that day…I didn’t quite understand what I was eating for dessert, never heard of anything edible called ‘cobbler’ before..hmmmmm..i thought the names they name their dishes here..but oh how YUM..it was.
…so I was thinking to whip up easy dessert for our home cooked date night meal but was lacking one thing or another for dessert list going through my mind.Answer came from freezer.Frozen peaches.I thought of making ‘cobbler’ first but as I walked to the pantry,I noticed ‘Oats’ smiling at me,which changed my mind from ‘cobbler’ to ‘crisp’.Why?’Crisps’ are easier than ‘Cobbler’ and oat makes it just a little healthier, dare I say.I followed this Peach Crisp Recipe .I had 1 lb frozen peaches.I added a tablespoon of corn starch to partially thawed out peaches.I left the nuts out.
