Shish Taouk
This is my another twist to skewered chicken.’Shish’ in Turkish means,’Skewered’ and ‘Taouk’ is Chicken…So now you know what ‘Shish Taouk’ is.Dish is middle eastern in origin,Lebanese precisely.Notion i get about this dish is,’Garlic’ is a star ingredient of this dish, combined with ‘Thyme’,’Lemon juice’ and good amount of ‘olive’ oil are the essential part in making this. This is how mine came about.

- I got the impression that ‘Thyme’ or ‘Thyme based’ spice mix called ‘Zatar’ is essential to this dish.I had neither,so i used dried ‘Oregano’ instead.
- Soaking the bamboo sticks in water prevents it from burning during grilling process.Of course,no one is stopping you from using metal skewers.I kinda like the earthy charm of bamboo sticks 🙂
- Enjoy this dish with Pita Bread and Tzatziki sauce for whole middle eastern effect.
