Whole Wheat Sugar Cookie
As the Halloween approached,i quickly realized that i have not used any of my Halloween cookie cutters to make cookies.I have been using them to make sandwiches. So to justify my purchase,i hurried and baked some Halloween shaped cookies couple of days ago.Do you justify your purchases like that???
Obvious choice of cookies were cut out sugar cookies. As much as I LOVE the sugar cookies i have always eaten,i wanted to give some whole wheat/less sugar twist to it.You know,we don’t stop with one cookie,we eat until we are sugar high.I followed this recipe verbatim except the type of sugar.
My hubby loves cookies and though he noticed it is not the same cookie what he has eaten before,he gave it a green light for future remakes 🙂
- I used Turbinado sugar instead of white.
- I did bake for 15 mins at 325F as it says.In past,i have always baked my cookies lesser time then recipe calls for but for this one, sticking to time, did not over bake it.
- You can eliminate the colored sugar and frost your cookies with icing once its baked and cooled.I try to avoid it,one i am lazy to do it,two,it is sweet on the top of sweet, three,it is messy and i lack patience to do it many times.
- Texture of cookie was same as my regular sugar cookies.Though I can notice the difference between this and regular ones. For one, this version is certainly less sweet then regular but none of us complained.Kids ate it just the same.It also has wheatish aroma to it,something which is not in regular sugar cookie. My husband and I noticed it but it didn’t made any difference in taste for us .
